Christmas 2011...a week later

Keeping with tradition, I will be doing a number of blog post today to catch you up with what's been going on in my life. Life has been happening so fast lately that I haven't found a spare moment to sit down and blog about it. Sound familiar?

First we need to talk about Christmas! By the way, merry seventh day after Christmas. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas filled with family, love, happiness, and friends.

Christmas eve morning was spent at my Grandmothers and Granddaddy's house. We won't even begin to talk about the mass amount of food that was consumed there. It's quite shameful really. The table was filled with biscuits, chocolate gravy, eggs, breakfast casserole, cream puffs, sausage, bacon, and so much more. The best part of the day was gathering around the table with my awesome family. I am truly blessed.

My Ben boy
Cousins
This boy loves books!
Allow me to explain the above picture. Christy is expecting and we decided to do the wedding band test to find out the sex of the baby. Supposedly, if it swings back and forth, it's a boy. If it spins in circles, it's a girl. According to our test she is having twins. We shall see! I'm secretly hoping for a girl!

Christmas Eve night we exchanged gifts as a family.

Mama has been wanting a hobo wallets ever since I got mine. She was so surprised and excited when she opened my gift to her. Just what she wanted. Daddy has been in desperate need of a new briefcase. His old one is falling apart, literally.

Us kids opening our gifts from the parents.

He loves me....he just doesn't know it yet. :)

Christmas morning!!! Lucy says thanks Santa! I will spare you the horribly atrocious morning pictures of me! Your welcome!
Christmas night was spent at my Mamaws and Papaws. We are obviously not a normal family. Who else would have a karaoke contest at their family Christmas?

Merry Christmas!!

If You Can Dream

Today is the first official day of my Christmas break and I have been living it up. Well, actually that's a bit of an exaggeration. I did get a hair cut and gloss though. That's pretty exciting right? I just love going to get my hair done. How great would it be to have someone fix your hair for you every morning. Too bad I will never be able to afford my own personal hair dresser on my teacher salary. Here's hoping for a rich husband. :) I digress.

I had to most amazing time yesterday. If you follow me on twitter you already know what I am talking about. In fact, you probably hate me for blowing up your twitter feed yesterday. Sorry about that. I just simply could not contain my excitement. See pic below for proof of the above statement.
Does that look like the face of a girl who is about to bust at the seems with joy? If you answered yes to that question, you would be correct. (I might have begged mama to buy me the $20.oo rotating light thing)

Front row seats to Disney on Ice. I was so excited. It was fun to be a kid for a day. We indulged on funnel cakes and popcorn. Don't tell Jillian Michaels on me. She would not approve and I am slightly afraid of her. Thanks in advance for that.

Okay, I am about to overload you with pictures from yesterday. If you don't like Disney, or people dressed up as princess and princes skating around on ice, you should probably close this window. If the above mentioned things sounds like something you would enjoy, keep on scrolling.

I was sad to leave. Disney always does that to me.

Friday Confessions

Hello ladies!! It is finally Friday! Can I get a woohoo? Now it time to let the confessions begin.

1. I am so looking forward to having Christmas break for the next two weeks. This first year teacher is much in need of some time off. Honesty though, I'm going to miss my sweet fourth graders. I was walking one of my kids to the bus and I told him I would see him next year. He looked at me with the saddest face and said, " I thought I was only going to be gone for two weeks Miss Holley". Obviously we need to discuss time. 365 is > two weeks.

2. I have a shopping problem. There it is... I said it. They say admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovering from an addiction right?

3. I really don't want to recover from my shopping addiction.

4. Is it sad that it's 8:00 on a Friday night and I'm listening to country music, in my pjs, while blogging. Oh and I need to add that after this blog post I plan on popping in a romantic comedy. I mean who really needs a man when you have Brad Paisley and Ryan Reynolds? Move over Blake Lively!

5. I have a slight obsession with the royals. The royal family that is. Specifically the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, more commonly know as Will and Kate to us commoners. I don't really know why I love them so much. Maybe it's because she was just a normal girl who happened to fall in love with the future King of England. Oh and she's super gorgeous and I love her fashion sense.

6. Speaking of princesses, I just bought tickets to go see Disney on Ice and I'm not one bit ashamed to admit it. We're all kids at heart right?

Have a wonderful weekend ladies! I'm off to my date with Ryan Reynolds :)

Ramblings of the Past

Since I officially have no time to blog anymore I end up having to do the catch up posts. It's really rather sad. :( Let's see...it's been about a month since I have blogged, so I missed filling you in on a lot. Raise your hand if you're a bad blogger. (Even though you don't see it, I'm raising my hand). Okay, let's begin catching up.

Harvest Party. Omg....nothing could've prepared me for this. Why do they not tell us about this in school. Here's the deal...Friday afternoon, 22 kids, cupcakes, tons of candy, chips, dips, soda a plenty, cookies, and rice krispie pumpkins. Can we say sugar over load? Can we also say I needed a major nap after this party. Thank you Lord for getting me through that crazy. All in all, it was fun and the kids had a wonderful time. Therefore, it's a win in my book.

Rookie mistake. I remembered to tell my children to bring a drink, but I forgot to bring the cooler. We had to improvise. Oops. I have learned that being a first year teacher is all about learning to roll with the punches.

Happy Halloween! Just a few weeks late. Oops...better late than never? I decided at about 5:00 on October 31 that I should dress up for Halloween. I thought the trick-or-treaters would love it. Anything for the kiddos you know. I was in a rush I find a costume, so I decided it would be a good idea to raid my brothers closet. This is what I came up with. I was pretty pleased with it.

Lucy was not as excited about her costume as I was about mine. I mean she didn't hate it, but she sure was happy when I took it off. What a precious little pirate.

My favorite little girl came to see me. :)
Family Reunion. What normal family has there reunion at a dance hall? That would be my family and no we are not normal apparently. However, having a bunch of talented musicians in the family did come in handy. It was nice to catch up with everyone under the disco ball. Haha.

Football season is over for my beloved Warriors. Sad face. I really enjoyed watching my baby brother play this season. Honestly, nothing in this world makes me happier than seeing him play the sports he loves. So very proud of the young man he is becoming.

Baseball season is just around the corner. Happy face.

I bought Lucy the most precious form of doggy uggs. She hated them. I wasted my money and gas having to return the shoes. Cute in theory, not so hot in reality. Oh well, we can't win them all.

I prepared for my first substitute. I was so proud of how organized I left everything for her. Thank you "How to Plan Your School Year". I was so nervous about not being there. As far as I know everything ran pretty smooth. They did try to talk her into giving them candy at the end of the day. Thankfully, she didn't fall for that one.

I was so excited to sleep in this past Tuesday. You don't know how excited I was when my alarm didn't go off at 5:30. My excitement was short lived when I had to haul myself to the dentist on my day off. Hello 8:30! I was not the least bit excited about starting my day off with the sounds of drills. I had a cracked crown that had to be replaced and this was the only time they could work me in. I was just thankful I had already scheduled the day off.

After the dentist office my day could only get better right? Right! Mama and me had a relaxing day of manicures and pedicure lined up. Heaven on earth people.

The next morning, yesterday, I woke up at 2:00 in the morning shivering and sweating all at the same time. I knew immediately this was not a good time. I crawled out of bed and checked my temp. According to the old as dirt thermometer we have, I had no fever. I knew it was wrong, but I decided to go with what it said and I headed back to bed, with an extra blanket in tow to sweat the fever off. My plan failed miserably, when I woke up at 5:30 I felt horriable. Of course I did, I have a fever of 100.5. I took some tylenol, packed up my things, and headed to work.

I thought I was going to die before the day was over. After school I took myself straight to the doctor. I was informed I had strep. Joy. I had a lovely decadron shot, and was put on two antibiotics. I slept for almost twelve and woke up feeling almost human this morning. I made it through work fine today and am starting to feel like myself again. So long strep please don't come again soon.

Until next time...
