Snow Days Make My Heart Happy

The title of this blog pretty much sums up my feelings about the snow we have received today! Looking outside my window, I feel like I'm looking into a snow globe. In three words...it is beautiful! As I am typing this there are two boys outside my window trying to build snowmen for their girlfriends. It is so sweet. Sort of reminds me of a few weeks ago when I forced this sweet boy to build me one. It amazes me what boys will do for the girls they love.

I have been anxiously awaiting this snow for two days now and it's arrival has not at all disappointed me. The wreck I almost had because of this beautiful snow did not make me happy, but hey it's not the snows fault. Well, it basically is but I forgive it. I mean look at all of the sweet things the snow has done for me today. First, it allowed me to get out of school at 11:45. I was home, out of my teacher clothes, and into my cozy pajamas before 12:00. It was wonderful . Also, my night class has been canceled for tonight. I so have to write snow a thank you card for that one.

I am looking forward to making snow creme tonight, playing in the snow with my sweet friends, and being out of school tomorrow. Snow, you are really awesome!

Sledding, Snowmen...and Applications

The snow finally came and boy did it show out. Six and a half inches of snow...wow! This Mississippi girl has never seen that much snow. Here are a few pictures from the past few days.

Jumping for joy about all the snow!

Sledding...we had to get creative with our sled.

Willie was a great sport helping me build my snowman.

Before and After

Okay enough about the snow.

Tonight I decided to look online for job openings at several schools in the area. I was very disappointed when I found that there were no positions available. Right now I am trying not to freak out too bad about this because it is the middle of the year and there shouldn't really be a openings. I am just hoping and praying that I am able to find a job next year. Thinking of having my own classroom next year makes me so excited. I can not wait for my students to learn from me and in turn I can't wait to learn from them.

Speaking of students, I am really beginning to miss my fourth graders. I will begin my student teaching of January 24 and I can hardly wait to see all of their sweet smiling faces and receive forty something hugs. Although working with kids is sometimes challenging and it is easy to become tired and frustrated, it is totally worth it. I would not trade what I do for anything in the world.

I Was Promised Snow...So Where Is It?

Being from Mississippi, I have only seen snow a few times in my life. I believe I could count the times on one hand. This Christmas I received the greatest gift of all...a WHITE Christmas. To say that I was excited would be an understatement. Below are a few pictures I took of the snow on Christmas morning.

Now to the news at hand. I am one sad girl today because I was promised by the weatherman that by 3:00 today I would have snow. He forecasted five to eight inches of snow, which is an unheard of amount for Mississippi. Well it is now 4:20 and it is raining outside...freezing rain that is. Have you ever tried to play outside in freezing rain? Somehow I don't picture it to be as fun as playing in the snow. Here is a quick picture I took of the "five to eight inches of snow" we have received so far!

My mama has called a few times today to ask me if it is snowing yet. At home they have already received an inch or so. If the bridges weren't already icing over I would make the thirty minuted drive back home. Now for some good news, according to the radar we should get some snow latter on it the day. I will be patiently waiting. Ha. Happy Sunday!
